Andante Extra Virgin Olive Oil is an excellent finishing oil on all cooked meat, fish and vegetables. The Delicate Blend is sometimes preferred for fish and poultry, and the Medium Blend for meat and vegetables.
The Delicate wakes up - and the Medium shakes up - any salad, either on its own, or with balsamic vinegar or lemon juice. For a salad dressing with a difference try Andante Medium Blend with soya sauce and any citrus zest, lemon or orange!
We love either blend on steamed or boiled new potatos, or on fresh bread with a grinding of coarse salt. Often we taste and drink them neat - just on their own.
Like all extra virgin olive oil Andante is an excellent, healthy cooking oil. The Andante Medium is the preference for this application.

- Quails, marinated in Andante Medium, a good dash of soya sauce, fresh chilli (to taste) and some lemon or orange slices in a flat-bottomed cast iron “potjie”. After about an hour the “potjie” with the marinade goes into the pizza oven for 20 minutes to half an hour. Remove the birdlets and roast to golden brown on a rack in the pizza oven, basting continuously with the warm marinade! Serve with a fresh green salad dressed with Andante, soya sauce and citrus zest, new potatos or rice, and red peppers roasted in the pizza oven.
- Sirloin steak cut about 1,5 cm thick, marinated in Andante Medium and balsamic vinegar for half an hour. (Sometimes a dash of Tabasco or a couple of chopped fresh chillies find their way into the mix.) Cook the steaks to taste in the pizza oven or over an open fire, basting with the marinade before turning. Serve with a fresh green salad dressed with Andante and balsamic vinegar, steamed seasonal vegetables drizzled with the Delicate, and new potatos boiled or roasted in a black pot with Andante Medium and fresh rosemary.
- Sardines or mackerel drizzled with Andante Medium and a turn or two of coarse salt, placed on a baking tray covered with slices of orange, and baked in the oven or pizza oven for 8 minutes or so. Serve as a starter or a snack with a glass of cold white wine.
